Without a doubt, the past couple of years have been a true testament to actor and martial arts star Wu Jing in the wake of making his solo directorial debut, Wolf Warriors. Well Go USA Announces SPL 2: A TIME FOR CONSEQUENCES For 2016 Release!

It's safe to say that director Soi Cheang's latest theatrical bit of action fanfare, SPL 2: A Time For Consequences, is a hit no matter what some opinions may be. Several reviews floating online are lending well-balancef earfuls to the film's credit as an otherwise exciting follow-up to the first film in 2005.

Tony Jaa and Wu Jing star at the forefront of this thematic continuation which sees Jing as an embattled undercover cop teaming up with a Thai prison guard to take down a courrupt warden. A film like this being celebrated this much deserves a broader release, and of course it was only a matter of time before Well Go USA snagged it for us, which could also mean great things with the third installment of the trilogy now pending.

Plano, TX (August 10, 2015) – Well Go USA Entertainment has announced the acquisition of US and Canadian distribution rights to SPL 2: A TIME FOR CONSEQUENCES, directed by Pou-Soi Cheang, multiple award-winning director of MOTORWAY and THE MONKEY KING. 

SPL 2: A TIME FOR CONSEQUENCES stars Tony Jaa (ONG BAK), and Louis Koo (DRUG WAR, FLASH POINT), as well as Wu Jing (SHAOLIN, WOLF WARRIOR) and Simon Yam (IP MAN 2, MAN OF TAI CHI), marking their return to the series, but in entirely new roles. 

In SPL 2, a drug-abusing undercover cop (Wu Jing) is on the verge of exposing the dying kingpin of an organ trafficking ring (Louis Koo). But an unexpected bust blows his cover and lands him in a Thai prison, caught between life, death, and a prison guard with unprecedented martial arts skills (Tony Jaa). 

“We can’t wait to bring the next chapter of the SPL story to the fans who made it a cult classic,” said Doris Pfardrescher, President and CEO of Well Go USA Entertainment. “Combining Tony Jaa with a cast of stars from our best-selling martial arts and action movies was beyond our expectations,” she said. “It’s been worth the wait.”  

The deal was negotiated between Doris Pfardrescher at Well Go USA Entertainment and Chiu-Yi Leung of Bravos Pictures on behalf of the filmmaker. 

SPL 2: A TIME FOR CONSEQUENCES will make its debut and premiere in a series of North American film festivals through the fall, with a theatrical release to follow in early 2016.

We're literally just one-month away from the North American release of action star Wu Jing's solo directorial debut, Wolf Warrior. It shouldn't be long before we finally get a trailer going viral but chances are you folks already know what the film looks like due to the trailers now online. Well, it's not the 3D spectacle that I was personally going for, but nonetheless, it's Chinese action star Wu Jing's role in his own solo directorial debut, Wolf Warrior, now ready and awaiting a Fall release in North America on DVD, Blu-Ray and Digital HD. Wu is joined by a stellar cast top-lined by none other than Brit-kicker, martial arts action sensation Scott Adkins whose career earned a huge boost from the film's regional success at the box-office on opening weekend thereafter.

THE DEADLY RECLAIM Sports A BTS Featurette With Benny Chan, Sammo Hung & Co.

Just off the heels of completing his latest role in The Bodyguard, yes, action legend and choreographer Sammo Hung is still making movies, and this time he's with director Benny Chan for the current production of period war flick, The Deadly Reclaim. Chan reunites with quite a few of the cast from previous films, namely The White Storm lead actors Lau Ching-Wan and Louis Koo, as well as New Police Story co-stars Liu Kai-Chi and Sammy Hung, and Invisible Target antagonist, action star Wu Jing in his latest role since his last two films were so physically tolling they nearly put him out of commission.

SYNOPSIS:

The story is set in 1941, China was trodden by incessant civil wars then. The central government had lost its power while warlords claiming their territories. The law and order in Puchang, a remote village, were temporarily enforced by a civic police led by Yang Kenan until the new ruling warlord Ca.

Filmsmash forwarded a BTS featurette of which a few have already begun circulating online via MTime, and the footage so far looks very promising. With an ensemble cast like this, The Deadly Reclaim is a seeming reassurance of the promise of great martial arts cinema to come. Rise Of The Legend star Eddie Peng also stars with Quan Yuan, Shu-ying Jiang, Philip Keung and Berg Ng for a speculative release sometime later this year. Media: SPL 2: A TIME FOR CONSEQUENCES Is As Good As You Might Have Been Hoping!

The word is out following the most recent red carpet galas in Hong Kong and Macau for director Soi Cheang's SPL 2: A Time For Consequences, and the buzz is all kinds of upworthy this week. The film appears to be nothing short of a proud successor to SPL in 2005 and lends a certain nod to the advancement of its lead stars, including that of lead actor Wu Jing who portrayed an alternative role opposite then-star Donnie Yen in the first film.

Elizabeth Kerr at THR calls the movie "tight", "entertaining" and "fun" in an approving critque of Wu, stating in part, "Wu does some of his best work in his most memorable film so far," while James Marsh at Screendaily boasts of Thai action star and merging Hollywood import, Tony Jaa's performance as "his most electrifying and charismatic, displaying a surprising dramatic range throughout the film." These, on top of the laurels celebrated by fellow stars Max Zhang and Simon Yam among others in addition to positive box office expectations are all signs that should forsee some great times by the film's wide release in Hong Kong, Macau and China.

No word yet on the release plans for U.S. though, but stay tuned for info as things build up. For now though, a new featurette is online as well as the most recent TV spot and seperate trailer for the film's June 25 release in Singapore and Malaysia.

SPL 2: A TIME FOR CONSEQUENCES Lands New Character Posters And Featurette!

Three-way final fights in film can be the cream of the crop for any action films when done right, and Soi Cheang's approach to the climatic action scene to be shown in this month's release, SPL 2: A Time For Consequences, is especially one fans are aching for. The film sequelizes Wilson Yip's 2005 installment, SPL, now with Wu Jing switching gears as a key protagonist along with Tony Jaa in a story of a disavowed deep cover cop and a prison guard who must find compromise as a intricate case of organ black market smuggling unfolds while a corrupt warden and an array of criminals plot against them.

Max Zhang plays one of the major villains in this one, and accordingly, he tackles the task of taking on both action stars in the new film which arrives on June 18, 2015. Several featurettes are online highlighting the action with oft Wu collaborator Nicky Li designing the brutality, and a new one has just been unveiled to take a look at below, in addition to three new character posters apart from the previous five unveiled a few weeks ago.

The verdict is still out on how well director Soi Cheang's SPL 2: A Time For Consequences will stand with audiences. In the meantime, the promotional campaign remains on-going and the footage is pulling no punches with actors Wu Jing, Tony Jaa and Max Zhang at the center of this gruesome crime tale thematic of Chinese astrology.

The plot of this particular sequel installment is quite intricate with a much more grander scale for its characters and setting. My own summation here: Run by a corrupt warden (Zhang), a Thai prison and its illegal orga smuggling ring and an elusive crimeboss (Louis Koo) are the initial stake for an undercover Hong Kong cop (Jing) whose cover is blown and must find a way to break out, while serving as the only bone marrow match for the dying daughter of one of the guards who helps him (Jaa).

The film is releasing on June 18, and we're more than likely to keep seeing more and more posters and footage surface. However, Malaysia cinema chain GSC Movies is showcasing a brand new trailer for the film that bodes just nicely before then, and I'm almost certain we are likely to hear some acquisition news for other territories with Cannes in full effect.

Watch A New Featurette For SPL 2: A TIME FOR CONSEQUENCES!

Depending on whether or not you're into featurettes or anything that may potentially spoil your later enjoyment for director Soi Cheang's latest, SPL 2: A Time For Consequences, consider yourself otherwise warned. The film is just a little over a month away and Bravos Pictures is now underway with marketing the film with the usual assortment of posters, trailers and featurettes, and speaking of the latter, there are already a few now making the rounds.

The one at the bottom doesn't seem so bad...well, at least compared to one I caught earlier this month (find that one and watch it at your own risk), and should whet the appetite a bit more ahead of the film's release. Preset by the first film nearly a decade ago, Wu Jing and Max Zhang are joined by international action star Tony Jaa and co-stars Louis Koo and Simon Yam as the film maintains its astrological millieu for a story of characters destined to clash right down to the violent and tragic end...but not before some explosive martial arts action, and for a cast like this, expect plenty.

SYNOPSIS:

Undercover cop Kit (Wu Jing) becomes a junkie in order to catch Mr Hung (Louis Koo), the mastermind behind a crime syndicate. When the operation goes sour and Kit blows his cover, his supervisor and uncle Wah (Simon Yam) decides to terminate the operation. When Kit disappears without a trace, Wah defies the order from his commanding officer and tracks Kit to a prison in Thailand. 

Thai Police officer Chai (Tony Jaa) becomes a prison guard in order to raise money for his daughter who has leukemia. He’s assigned to keep an eye on Kit. Even though Chai and Kit are in opposing positions and they don’t speak a common language, Kit turns out to be a suitable bone marrow donor who can save Chai’s daughter. While Chai is determined to keep Kit alive, the warden (Zhang Jin) wants him dead to ensure the smooth operation of the prison, which is the front for Mr Hung’s organ trafficking business. 

Mr Hung shows up in Thailand so he can use his younger brother’s (Jun Kung) heart in a heart transplant to save his own life. The stage is set for a showdown...

Wu Jing Is Trapped In Purgatory In New Poster Art For SPL 2: A TIME FOR CONSEQUENCES!

Penance is, indeed, prevalent for the protagonist in director Soi Cheang's thematic sequel action thriller, SPL 2: A Time For Consequences. Chinese astrology is the trend here as per the 2005 predecessor SPL, now with returning actor Wu Jing in the apparent opposite of his previous role, now in the role of an undercover cop desperately seeking an out from his blown cover thanks in large part to his own corrupt department.

Trapped in a Thai prison, getting out won't be easy, and his only help is one of the prison's guards, played by international action sensation Tony Jaa, and no less will there be fisticuffs and kicks aplenty before true justice is served. This film is already lining up an audience with its powerhouse cast and nothing short of what has been stellar footage. Of course, the film will be another matter as we await what the critics say, but in the meantime, SPL 2: A Time For Consequences is set to arrive on June 18 and getting all the hype it deserves from here on out.

Watch This Explosive Blooper Reel For Wu Jing's WOLF WARRIOR

Action star and debut director Wu Jing's latest film, Wolf Warrior, roared its way through China's box office during its opening first weekend of April, setting up a hot season of movie magic as the first of two flicks to arrive this year - the second being SPL 2: A Time Of Consequences opposite Tony Jaa. The film, also starring Scott Adkins and Yu Nan, is also one of the latest examples of what it means to suffer for what you love most, particularly for Wu as he punished himself through every grueling minute he endured in helping to create the brutal and explosive action sequences for the film.

No doubt about it - Wu has soldiered his way through it all, thick and thin, and recovered from the longstanding bumps and bruises he received during its production, some of which have been made availbale in a recently released blooper/outtake reel (mind the 3.6 promo date at the end seeing as how it was the third time the release date was changed). Well Go USA is finally releasing the film in North America with a date pending, so stick around more deets after this.

Well Go USA Nabs WOLF WARRIOR For Release In North America!

The production of action star and debut director Wu Jing's newest helming effort, Wolf Warrior, has seen quite an addition to his journey in film. It certainly lended its fair share of physical challenges in recent months as well as technical ones, considering the film was supposed to release late last year at some point or another.

The film joins Wu principally with actress Yu Nan and fellow action star Scott Adkins in a story of a rebellious Chinese solider ousted from the army before being given a second chance with a special commando unit, only to end up in the crosshairs of a vengeful foreign mercenary and his team of killers. The film is poised to present another in an epic array of fantastic action sequences, one which will ultimately pit action star Wu and Adkins opposite each other for the first time, and even better, in 3D and IMAX when it releases in 

China on April 2. 

That said, fans of the genre in North America may be familiar with the recent patterned allocation of Asian action films through Texas-based Well Go USA, who have been a leading figure in showcasing Asian cinema in the U.S. for several years now. Lately, having theatrically presented films in select theaters and cities like Tsui Hark's The Taking Of Tiger Mountain at the top of the year before February's release of Jacob Cheng's Snow Girl And The Dark Crystal, the model here was done also, in part, to help combat piracy. 

It seems to be a working vehicle for the company as they move forward with their acquisitions and other endeavors, and as of this week with news broken from Screendaily, Well Go USA will be adding another - Wu's Wolf Warrior, to its platform, which could mean a possible limited theatrical release in North America and Canada as early as April 3 or a week thereafter.

With a pattern like this, Asian cinema lovers in the U.S. and abroad have plenty of reason to hope to catch titles like these on the big screen instead of just catching them straight-to-disc or on digital. It's what anyone who loves martial arts action could hope for, and for an opportunity to see Wu on the big screen stateside with Adkins, it's a plus to hardly argue against.

I suppose it's been worth discussing the prospects of seeing actor Donnie Yen return to the fray in a potential sequel to his previous role in the 2005 crime pic, Sha Po Lang. One never immediately came, but it led to a small string of notable hits pairing him with filmmaker Wilson Yip as the two became the most defining pair in contemporary action cinema at the time, reintroducing audiences to the visionary brutality of the genre with stories toned in tragedy, dark heroism and stylish action to boot. It's the kind of filmmaking that sells to the hardcore niche, and director Soi Cheang is no stranger to this, having established himself quoted films like Dog Bite Dog and Shamo, and recent titles like Accident and Motorway before switching gears and stepping into CG-laden fantasy territory with last year's box office 3D smash hit, The Monkey King.

Alas, Cheang returns to the fore once more in revitalizing the designated fanbase with his latest sequel effort, SPL 2: A Time For Consequences, reinterpreting the very thematic setting of the first film predicated from Chinese astrology with a handful of new and old faces from both films. Here, Yip joins Paco Wong to produce from a script by screenwriters Jill Leung and Huang Ying with The Grandmaster co-star, actor Zhang Jin in a tale of one cop's mission to right wrongs on both sides of the badge and help save the life of a little girl. Joining him are actors Louis Koo and SPL star Simon Yam, along with international action star Tony Jaa whose own career beyond the Ong Bak and The Protector films, has been nothing short of propulsive, and especially with fellow SPL star Wu Jing returning to the fray and nearly crippling himself in a series of growing injuries that almost ended his own career after wrapping - Keyword here being *almost*, and, that should lend an idea of the amount of committment being given here by Wu and our actors in not only delivering a potentially great sequel film, but also hand-delivering possibly one of the biggest screenfighting bouts in all of 2015.

There's plenty here to appreciate for all the attributes being made, as can be seen in the latest full trailer which released on Monday morning as things went underway for this month's HK FilMart. Lock And Load In A New Featurette For WOLF WARRIOR

Debut director, action star Wu Jing's new miltary action thriller, Wolf Warrior, is finally getting its day next month and if you missed the latest trailer, feel free to watch it here. The Bad News: WOLF WARRIOR Is Pushed Back Again. The Good News: Wu Jing Is Back On His Feet!

I suppose as far as bad news goes, it shouldn't be too paining for folks in China currently awaiting the release of action star Wu Jing's solo directorial debut, Wolf Warrior, which has been under the post-production knife for some time now. The film is getting an IMAX 3D release and sees Wu as an insubordinate commando who, after earning reprieve for second chance with a new squad, is now forced to take on a horde of foreign mercenaries seeking to avenge one of their own, led by action star Scott Adkins.

Having completed well over a year ago, the film is one of a recent few Wu worked on which took a toll on his legs last year nearly ending his career. Thankfully the necessary surgery and recovery process have aided him so far as to grant his native audience a CCTV Spring Festival performance last month, and as you'll see in the video at the very bottom of this page, he hasn't lost a step.

It's not yet clearly known if or when he'll get back into his screenfighting element, although I, assuredly among many, welcome any surprises headed our way if any. In the meantime, Wolf Warrior has been granted a new release date set for April 2, as well as a new trailer you can now check out below. His latest prequel role in Terence Cheung's S.P.L. 2: A Time For Consequences has already been granted a date in Malaysia tentative for July with further details pending.

Scott Adkins Happenings: CLOSE RANGE Gets A New Clip, WOLF WARRIOR Gets New Stills And A Poster

The year is looking good so far as things steadily pick up for action star Scott Adkins whose latest multi-territorial market acquisition, Close Range, is already going viral with a fresh new clip (via City On Fire) that delivers the usual awesomeness. It's a warming treat for fans of the actor, especially considering he's got more where that came from in a handful of other projects well on their way, including a stellar, muscularly amplified theatrical presentation in IMAX 3D and high-quality sound technology for the release of action star Wu Jing's directorial debut, Wolf Warriors.

Promotion on that particular film has since slowed down what with its initial release last month pushed back to March 6 in China. That said, promotional material is a bit more pictorial than anything until any thing else comes our way other than the music video you see above. On that note, feel free to feast your eyes on more stills and at least one new poster in both albums below.

The Wolves Line Up In New Character Posters For WOLF WARRIOR + New Featurette

It's probably a good thing that it's taking as long as it has for the release of actor, producer and debut director Wu Jing's latest offering, Wolf Warrior. Production wrapped long ago on deck for what would have been either a late 2014 or January release in China before it was decided to add some IMAX/3D muscle, and for what it's worth, it could pay off.

Also produced by Lv Jianmin, Wu stars as a defiant Chinese commando operative whose skill set is put to use while training a new squad of elite commandos, only to come in the crosshairs of vengeful foreign mercenaries. Actor Scott Adkins stars opposite Wu as the main villain with fight choreography by Wu cohort, Nicky Li Chung-Chi (Legendary Assassin, Invisible Target) in what could only be one of the most highly anticipated screen bouts this year prior to Wu's goes forthcoming brawl with action cinema favorite, Tony Jaa in SPL 2: A Time For Consequences later this year, and luckily, with all the waiting that filmgoers overseas have had to endure, a new release date has been set for March 6, 2015 in China, accompanied by a fresh slate of character posters and stills, and an explosive new featurette just beneath, courtesy of MTime.

Check it all out below, and as improbable as this may be, let's hope this film gets the same IMAX/3D treatment beyond borders. This is exciting!

Wu Jing Offers Three New WOLF WARRIOR Posters With Attitude!

It probably doesn't help that it feels more and more like a tease to see all these posters for action star Wu Jing's directorial debut, Wolf Warrior. The famed martial arts wunderkind has grown immensely in his craft over the years, whilst having recently been placed on leave to heal from his share of on-set injuries just after filming Cheang Pou-Soi's S.P.L.: A Time For Consequences, and hopefully absence from the screen won't be a permanent one.

Nevertheless though, all the posters and trailers we've seen for this newest display of explosive commando warfare have been nothing short of reassuring that Wu himself has cut his teeth quite well enough to earn himself a feature film with this much spectacle. Here, he portrays a soldier with authority issues whose newly applied training to a special commando unit will pit him in the turrets of a bloodthirsty foreign merc, and his squad of highly-trained killers.

It's a perfect set up and one that may guarantee a great time at the movies, and for an IMAX/3D display at that. Unfortunately, the wait is a little longer with a date to be set for March in 2015 so let's bide our time until then with a bit of Wu's rebellious nature in three new posters added below.
