CLOSE RANGE Gets Up Close With A Killer Poster And, Once More, The Official Trailer!

About a week ago, someone reportedly jumped the gun on the latest trailer for director Isaac Florentine's newest action thriller, Close Range. Thankfully, Bleiberg's Company B finally unveiled it online just a few days ago, and as of today, the film has a new poster as well, both of which you can check out right now.

Action star Scott Adkins leads the film as a former soldier forced to defend his family on their own home turf from a druglord and his men, and the crooked sheriff protecting them, after violently rescuing his niece from their clutches.

If you haven't seen the footage yet, the action is intense as seen in the trailer sampling the usual best out of an Adkins/Florentine paring following their 2013 festival favorite, Ninja 2: Shadow Of A Tear. Plus, you get to see actor and fight choreographer Jeremy Marinas opposite Adkins in a few shots as well, which will make this film's December 4 release all the more rewarding.

WOLF WARRIOR Rages On In The New U.S. Trailer!

Without a doubt, the past couple of years have been a true testament to actor and martial arts star Wu Jing in the wake of making his solo directorial debut, Wolf Warriors. Several leg injuries and a lengthy post-production process for an augmented 3D release notwithstanding, this latest patriotic action adventure will hopefully be the start of a great career on both sides of the camera for Wu after dominating the set with the likes of Donnie Yen, Sammo Hung and the late, great Darren Shahlavi over the years.

Here and now opposite a diverse cast led additionally by UK action star Scott Adkins, Well Go USA's latest acquisition will likely service a commendable treat for fanboys eager to see two of the industry's best go head-to-head in this explosive outing between a lone survivor and a group of vengeful mercenaries out for blood no matter what the cost!

BOYKA: UNDISPUTED IV Wraps, Star Thanks His Fans, Cast And Crew, Talks Future Movies

Martial arts action cinema has seen a ton of glory in the field of film for many years with a multitude of memorable and iconic characters to lend credit to. One such role as of late has been actor Scott Adkins's delivery of born-again Russian mixed-martial arts champion, Uri Boyka, following two principle roles in the direct-to-video end of the Undisputed franchise, with the sequel and threequel in 2006 and 2010 respectively, from director Isaac Florentine.

Clock into 2015 well long after the third film as fans remained sizzling with hope for another installment and fans evidently got their wish in late 2013 prior to principle photography earlier this summer, and no less with a meaty handful of top notch action actors from select parts of the world all congregating in Sofia, Bulgaria for the production of Boyka: Undisputed IV. Adkins and Florentine are reunited once more with co-star and fight choreographer Tim Man since putting together the dazzling action in Fantastic Fest 2013 favorite, Ninja: Shadow Of A Tear - another title that is still garnering fandom in support of another, and granted, one that will assure fans more to come from Adkins and those in his corner.

Of course, none of this forward-movement is easy to come by. It took a really, really long time for another Undisputed movie to emerge, and now with its completion of principle photography, it's onto the next phase which is post-production, and hopefully it won't be long within that period before we see some footage. Until then, we can rest ourselves in the fact that another is in the can with an invariably exceptional amalgam of screenfighters - several of whom I have written about before on any number of indie projects. This, coupled with a great plot guarantees the franchise even further greatness for a character that has cultivated a generation of martial arts fans and athletes with the purposing of an idol that brings a world of electricity to a niche that will never run out of enthusiasm.

On that note, it's Adkins himself who had something to say to his followers via social media regarding the new film, its stunt players, the possible future of the character he plays, and more:

We're literally just one-month away from the North American release of action star Wu Jing's solo directorial debut, Wolf Warrior. It shouldn't be long before we finally get a trailer going viral but chances are you folks already know what the film looks like due to the trailers now online. Sci-Fi Thriller RE-KILL Leads The After Dark Films/Fox Relaunch. Watch The New Trailer!

Three years is a longtime to wait for a film to release after its completion. After Dark Films exemplified this with its three-year deal based at Lionsgate for the production and distribution of genre titles, specifically including Wrong Turn 6 helmer director Valeri Milev's action horror thriller, Re-Kill.

A dystopian zombie splatterfest is something that surely speaks to the niche it's meant for and that may have followed through in 2012. Obviously the film eventually fell into distribution hell with the likely ending of the deal, although thankfully progress has been made with the company's relaunch at Twentieth Century Fox for its '8 Films To Die For' slate, as per a new report from Dread Central that Re-Kill will finally get its just dues on the big screen on October 16, 2015.

SYNOPSIS:

It’s been 5 years since the outbreak that wiped out 85% of the world’s population, but the war between Re-Animates (Re-Ans) and Humans wages on, as most of the major cities are still uninhabitable. Within the few surviving cities, the Re-Ans have been segregated into “zones” and are policed by the R-Division of the QUASI S.W.A.T. Unit who hunt to re-kill the Re-Ans in the hope of quelling a second outbreak.

Did you hear that last statement? Now, I won't speculate too much, but considering the events in Undisputed 2: Last Man Standing, I wouldn't put it past the production of Boyka: Undisputed IV to at least include a cameo or a last minute-casting role for Michael Jai White - either this, or a reunion for a fifth installment of the Universal Soldier franchise in which S.E.T.H. is somehow reincarnated and forced to fight John, Luc Deveraux, GR13 and the NGU in an epic fivesome UniSol smackethdown of some kind.

Imagine that.

At at any rate, the prospects of White and actor Scott Adkins getting back together can only produce good things, so we'll see what happens. In the meantime, White is on the way with Never Back Down 3 and Adkins is bringing Boyka center-ring once again in Boyka: Undisputed IV. Stick around for more details!

New Stills And A Synopsis Surface For BOYKA: UNDISPUTED IV

Many a debate have been had in the last five years over the fate of a fourth installment of Undisputed, a series of films that has since spawned from a Hollywood prison boxing drama to a franchise of films that have entrenched explicit fandom within the niche for actor and action star Scott Adkins in the role of devout modern day mixed martial arts warrior, Uri Boyka. Suffice it to say, the Undisputed franchise has taken a life of its own in the martial arts genre, and while piracy nearly threatened the hopes of a fourth film, it was finally made official in late 2013 with cameras rolling nearly a year and a half later in Bulgaria for Boyka: Undisputed IV.

Yes, results are coming, and I wouldn't hold my breath for this one until at least a 2016 release as with the nature of independent cimema. Director Isaac Florentine who has been in the director's chair for the franchise since the sequel in 2006 with actor Michael Jai White is back once again, now with the likes of Tim Man (Ninja: Shadow Of A Tear) designing the action, action actor Brahim Achabbakhe and towering personal trainer and actor Martyn Ford as the current faces of the film via social media so far. And with production still on-going, we now have an official synopsis courtesy of a fanpage geared toward the production.

In the fourth installment of the fighting franchise, Boyka is shooting for the big leagues when an accidental death in the ring makes him question everything he stands for. When he finds out the wife of the man he accidentally killed is in trouble, Boyka offers to fight in a series of impossible battles to free her from a life of servitude.

The plot here lends great lip-service to the current nature of the narrative following the third film with the Boyka character having escaped the clutches of the courrpt Gorgon penitentiary in Georgia after redeeming himself in the Prison-Spetz Competion against its tough competiton with only one fully-working knee. The final scene could have easily led to the completion of the franchise right then, but fan fervor demanded more Boyka, and now the fans are getting their wish.

An official cast listing should go public sometime soon while I sincerely hope the fans will actually support this one by actually purchasing and renting. As awesome this franchise has become for martial arts fans alike, the filmmakers and stars deserve it.

Well, it's not the 3D spectacle that I was personally going for, but nonetheless, it's Chinese action star Wu Jing's role in his own solo directorial debut, Wolf Warrior, now ready and awaiting a Fall release in North America on DVD, Blu-Ray and Digital HD. Wu is joined by a stellar cast top-lined by none other than Brit-kicker, martial arts action sensation Scott Adkins whose career earned a huge boost from the film's regional success at the box-office on opening weekend thereafter.

A Case For Better Action Movies: GREEN STREET HOOLIGANS: UNDERGROUND (2013)

To date, I haven't seen either Lexi Alexander's or Jesse V. Johnson's previous installations of the Green Street franchise, and in that regard, it might service you to see those films before moving onto director James Nunn's 2014 offering, Green Street Hooligans: Underground. Granted, it's only an option and not hugely necessary, and opinions might differ depending on how geared you are toward the first film, but this particular movie does plenty more for the kind of film it's meant to be, apart from whatever expectations there may have been.

In the film, the Green Street Elite firm is one in many football-emboldened cliques in a sub-culture of English society that has since been outlawed with its resolve now quartered to sectioned-off areas away from public eyes. Bets are placed, faces are smashed and bloodied, teeth are chipped, egos are bruised and many a drink are drunk - such was once the instance for former GSE Governor-turned-gym owner, Danny (Scott Adkins), who has since strayed away from life in West Ham in search of a healthier path, and much to the chagrin of his younger brother, Joey (Billy Cook), who meets his unfortunate end when a post-game underground brawl takes his life. Alas, long after his departure Danny heads back to West Ham where the Green Street Elite are now the underdog group in the hooligan fighting circuit as he's now forced to come to terms with his rediscovered obligation to see GSE and that of his newfound love interest, tough-as-nails pub runner Molly (Kacey Barnfield), all while doing what he can with former Hooligan-turned-cop Victor (Joey Ansah) to find Joey's killer. Amidst it all, loyalty is tested and alliances are questioned, and when the final bell rings, the lines of justice will be drawn once and for all.

With all the titles there are in Adkins's resumé right now, a lot has been said by many a fan of his movies, and much of it with great praise and acclaim. I have to say though, Green Street Hooligans: Underground is definitely one that offers much more to the table for Adkins in a leading role, and in the millieu of English society at that. It is quite comforting to not have to see Adkins force his way into sounding "American" as he's had to in several films (there's at least one exception there), and it allows you to observe him in a more convincing portrayal with other characters on screen. Adkins shares different traits to his persona, and not just that of a one-note tough guy too moody to crack a smile while still delivering the usual stellar screenfighting athleticism he's known for.

Embodying the story of Danny's search for vengenace are a small, nifty group of key characters, and none of whom are excess; Actress Kacey Barnfield does wonders as Molly, balancing things out just nicely in a role that doesn't underhand itself amid a cast that mostly consists of an all-male roster. Actor Jack Doolan carries the film greatly between its first and second act as Gilly, Joey's close friend and the remnants of GSE leadership in its downtrodden state, while actor Mark Wingett serves as the grizzled backbone of this story with more innovative uses of the word 'fuck' than one might expect.

Martial artist and actor Spencer Wilding takes on as Derek, the brooding and venomous leader of the Millwall club, and he's one who no one really needs to doubt in terms of the antagonizing danger he poses in both size and stamina. Needless to say, he's a big guy who can fight, and delivers a proper villain well suited as an opposite for Adkins. We also meet actor and martial artist Joey Ansah in the role of Victor, a troubled cop desperate for the truth and forced to work with very little, which, and bearing the latter in mind with a smidget of irony to boot, is something to bear in mind as Ansah wore several hats on this particular project, including as the principle fight choreographer.

The overall vision of this particular non-sequitur of the Green Street franchise is one that deserves a curve. Aside from noting the choice of Adkins in the lead role, the film provides martial arts as an individual backdrop for the remainder of the story to build on, apart from an unconnected trilogy more drama-infused with a fighting theme focused on basic knuckle brawling in massive numbers. As per the story based on Ronnie Thompson's script, we see our title characters in training for the film's thematic action relative to underground fighting in preparation to take on other rival gangs with members trained in various fighting methods, which is useful for a film of this nature despite what some critics might have claimed.

This, on top of the film's limited budget of £250,000 (close to $380,000 USD) with an enlistment of MANY extras who worked for free under Ansah's watch, two weeks of action rehearsal and a grueling final fight filmed in minus-five degree weather at night also says a lot about the work ethic executed here when it comes to a cast and crew as dedicated as this one. The massive action sequences, designed and edited by Ansah in conjunction with the cinematography and editing are all top-notch and never interferes with what the film tries to achieve in character delivery and storytelling. In addition, the choreography displays conducive mix of hooligan brawling and stylish and gritty martial arts performance that aims to appease both fans of the Green Street franchise and relative fans of cinematic fight action, with rewarding results.

Of course, everyone is an entitled to an opinion, although perspective is key for the sake of discernment when it comes to what fans look for in an action film. With that in mind, and with regard to whatever sentiments there may be by critics who may have expected more or thought this film went in an entirely wrong direction, I must respectfully disagree.

Tower Block helmer Nunn presents a tale urban Euro sports culture peppered with a mix of drama, sprinkles of drunken levity, poignance and sex appeal, and a layout of murder mystery and intrigue that allows space and time for an amalgam of actors to give action cinephiles a quality product. And that is exactly what Green Street Hooligans: Underground is.

As a noteworthy mention, my 2013 interview with Nunn will hopefully add some perspective, as well as some exclusive video footage I got to share myself in 2014 during Ansah's New York City visit. Otherwise, Green Street Hooligans: Underground, is now availbale wherever movies are sold. Buy it or rent it  now, you wankers!

And The Winner Of Our LIFE OF ACTION Contest Is...

It's not everyday that you get to win a free book, much less one that is attributed to some of the best of the best in the industy of action and stunts on film. However, casting any more formalities aside from the preceding suspenseful week-and-a-half, today is the day we announce the winner of our Life Of Action contest and congratulate Ross Brown for answering our trivia question with the ONLY correct answer, and I mean that literally.

The contest brought a total of sixteen people of which I had to exclude three for not adhering to the directions I set last week for the contest. Granted, I wish more people entered this contest so it could have been much more competitive for me to fairly weigh the winner among more finalists. Perhaps with this, hopefully debut author Mike Fury's new book will generate a successful readership enough that his next book will allow me to give away two, maybe three copies to some lucky librophiles out there. Who knows?

Action star Scott Adkins is having quite the bustling year having made number one in China opposite action star and debut director Wu Jing in Wolf Warrior upon nabbing several roles with other expected appearances to come. SYNOPSIS: Corporal Evan Albright (Charlie Weber) joined the elite Marine Corp Security Guards to save the world and see some action—not necessarily in that order. But his first assignment, protecting a U.S. Embassy in a seemingly safe Middle Eastern capitol, relegates his unit to wrangling "gate groupies" protesting outside the compound and honing their marksmanship by playing video games. So Albright and his team are caught off guard when well-armed and well-trained militants launch a surprise attack aimed at killing an informant in the embassy. Heavily out-gunned, they will have to muster all the courage and firepower they can as their once routine assignment spirals into all-out war.

The official Scott Adkins website also announced the film's completion last weekend with a new set pic you can only view there. The film now moves the film forward to post production with further details pending. Stay tuned for more info.

Watch This Explosive Blooper Reel For Wu Jing's WOLF WARRIOR

Action star and debut director Wu Jing's latest film, Wolf Warrior, roared its way through China's box office during its opening first weekend of April, setting up a hot season of movie magic as the first of two flicks to arrive this year - the second being SPL 2: A Time Of Consequences opposite Tony Jaa. The film, also starring Scott Adkins and Yu Nan, is also one of the latest examples of what it means to suffer for what you love most, particularly for Wu as he punished himself through every grueling minute he endured in helping to create the brutal and explosive action sequences for the film.

No doubt about it - Wu has soldiered his way through it all, thick and thin, and recovered from the longstanding bumps and bruises he received during its production, some of which have been made availbale in a recently released blooper/outtake reel (mind the 3.6 promo date at the end seeing as how it was the third time the release date was changed). Well Go USA is finally releasing the film in North America with a date pending, so stick around more deets after this.

Adkins, Nunn Reteam For ELIMINATORS For WWE Studios, Richwater

Martial arts action star and actor Scott Adkins can chalk another to his own slate of film appearances between now and next year. With Close Range wrapped, Jarhead: The Siege already underway and Undisputed 4 to begin this June, it's a great time to stay excited for the Brit screenfighter whose career is a list of popular action hits that have played a huge role in maintaining the martial arts fanbase.

For this, we turn to an exclusive report from Variety that states Adkins's forthcoming role in the new film, Eliminators, which begins filming in London possibly this May, reuniting Adkins with filmmaker James Nunn following their work on the 2013 pound-for-pound revenge fight thriller, Green Street 3. The film joins Adkins with Dead Man Down (2013) co-star, professional wrestler and actor stage-named Wade Barrett in a story that will forces a U.S. federal agent out of a witness protection program to get his daughter to safety while taking on Europe's most deadly assassin.

The film is just one of two for which WWE Studios announced its production/financing partnership behind UK-based company Richwater Films, the same studio behind hits such as Vendetta and its upcoming sequel starring Danny Dyer; The other film will be Rampage, which pits an American counterterrorism operative with an English MI5 agent in London to foil a terrorist plot. There's no word yet on who will star while filming is said to begin next year.

This particular update is just one in a bunch of things WWE Studios has its hands in at the moment on top of mananging its own roster, the latest being The Marine 4 from director William Kaufman. Kaufman is currently on location in Bulgaria helming Jarhead: The Siege with Adkins, who is also poised to appear in the long-awaited zombie thriller, Re-Kill, and the Ariel Vromen-directed Criminal this August.

Scott Adkins Returns To Play Boyka In UNDISPUTED 4 This June

It's a week of really great news for fans of action star Scott Adkins. His most recent pairing with director Isaac Florentine for Compound B's Close Range wrapped earlier this year and two new titles have made headlines for him as well, with the current filming of Jarhead: The Siege and the forthcoming theatrical overseas release of his performance with action star and debut director, Wu Jing in Wolf Warrior next month.

Now comes word from The Action Elite that Adkins will be putting the tattoos, knee, wrist and ankle wraps once more as the cult character favorite, Yuri Boyka in a hotly awaited fourth installment of the Undisputed franchise starting this June. No doubt, Florentine will be back to direct in what will be his eighth movie with the actor and featuring fight choreography by Undisputed 3 action auteur Larnell Stovall, and screenwriter David N. White who wrote the script for the direct-to-video sequel with Michael Jai White and its third, all spun from Walter Hill's original 2002 movie with Wesley Snipes and Ving Rhames.

The film itself has been a long time coming since being confirmed during Fantastic Fest in 2013 with no immediate movement, and it's one that comes with perpetual hype from fans who have wanted another in the face of the third film's faltering to movie piracy upon its release. So bear in mind the time it took for this film to finally come about as we can all safely say this movie almost didn't happen, because thankfully the production itself can finally movie forward with the promise of seeing Adkins do what he does best.

Well Go USA Nabs WOLF WARRIOR For Release In North America!

The production of action star and debut director Wu Jing's newest helming effort, Wolf Warrior, has seen quite an addition to his journey in film. It certainly lended its fair share of physical challenges in recent months as well as technical ones, considering the film was supposed to release late last year at some point or another.

The film joins Wu principally with actress Yu Nan and fellow action star Scott Adkins in a story of a rebellious Chinese solider ousted from the army before being given a second chance with a special commando unit, only to end up in the crosshairs of a vengeful foreign mercenary and his team of killers. The film is poised to present another in an epic array of fantastic action sequences, one which will ultimately pit action star Wu and Adkins opposite each other for the first time, and even better, in 3D and IMAX when it releases in 

China on April 2. 

That said, fans of the genre in North America may be familiar with the recent patterned allocation of Asian action films through Texas-based Well Go USA, who have been a leading figure in showcasing Asian cinema in the U.S. for several years now. Lately, having theatrically presented films in select theaters and cities like Tsui Hark's The Taking Of Tiger Mountain at the top of the year before February's release of Jacob Cheng's Snow Girl And The Dark Crystal, the model here was done also, in part, to help combat piracy. 

It seems to be a working vehicle for the company as they move forward with their acquisitions and other endeavors, and as of this week with news broken from Screendaily, Well Go USA will be adding another - Wu's Wolf Warrior, to its platform, which could mean a possible limited theatrical release in North America and Canada as early as April 3 or a week thereafter.

With a pattern like this, Asian cinema lovers in the U.S. and abroad have plenty of reason to hope to catch titles like these on the big screen instead of just catching them straight-to-disc or on digital. It's what anyone who loves martial arts action could hope for, and for an opportunity to see Wu on the big screen stateside with Adkins, it's a plus to hardly argue against.

Scott Adkins Joins JARHEAD: THE SIEGE

Director Sam Mendes's 2005 film, Jarhead, always centered itself with me as a standalone war drama servicing some meaty character growth with the help of memorable performances. That said, I'm kind of caught off guard by the fact that a sequel was released last year just nine years later from director Don Michael Paul which was thankfully received enough that its now getting a third from The Prodigy helmer William Kaufman titled Jarhead: The Siege.

Kaufman will reteam once more with The Hit List and One In The Chamber screenwriter Chad Law and co-scribe Michael Weiss with a script that centers on a team of Marines who are assigned to protect a U.S. Embassy in the Middle East when it is suddenly under attack. The film also, in turn, reunites Law with lead action star Scott Adkins on the heels of completing their latest action thriller, Close Range, under director Isaac Florentine earlier this year. Rounding out the cast are Charlie Weber, Dante Basco, Romeo Miller and Sasha Elise Jackson for production to begin this week.

The new movie currently arrives in lieu of the forthcoming premiere of Kaufman's previous film, The Marine 4: Moving Target at Camera 12 Cinema on March 27 before its DVD, Blu-Ray and VOD release on April 21, in addition to the forthcoming release of the new sci-fi thriller, Daylight's End. Lock And Load In A New Featurette For WOLF WARRIOR

Debut director, action star Wu Jing's new miltary action thriller, Wolf Warrior, is finally getting its day next month and if you missed the latest trailer, feel free to watch it here. In the meantime, the campaign to promote the film remains on-going, which obviously means keeping the fans tended to until then as the film's release has been prolonged at least three times to help bolster its theatrical muscle with an IMAX 3D release.

Wu is joined by actress Yu Nan and actor Scott Adkins in a story centered on Leng Feng, a rebellious Chinese soldier who gets a second chance to redeem himself by joining a new squad of commandos when a horde of vengeful mercenaries enact a plan to hunt him down and kill him. April 2 is the date now planned for this exciting new actioner guaranteed to deal its fair share of fisticuffs, as well as bullets, big guns and things that go boom, and to help familarize you with the tools of the trade is a new featurette you can now view below, along with ten new stills and promo pictures from the film.

Wolf Warrior is produced by LV Jianmin with Chris Collins, Kyle Shapiro, Kevin Lee, Sona Eyambe and fellow action star Vincent Zhao rounding out the cast.

The Bad News: WOLF WARRIOR Is Pushed Back Again. The Good News: Wu Jing Is Back On His Feet!

I suppose as far as bad news goes, it shouldn't be too paining for folks in China currently awaiting the release of action star Wu Jing's solo directorial debut, Wolf Warrior, which has been under the post-production knife for some time now. The film is getting an IMAX 3D release and sees Wu as an insubordinate commando who, after earning reprieve for second chance with a new squad, is now forced to take on a horde of foreign mercenaries seeking to avenge one of their own, led by action star Scott Adkins.

Having completed well over a year ago, the film is one of a recent few Wu worked on which took a toll on his legs last year nearly ending his career. Thankfully the necessary surgery and recovery process have aided him so far as to grant his native audience a CCTV Spring Festival performance last month, and as you'll see in the video at the very bottom of this page, he hasn't lost a step.

It's not yet clearly known if or when he'll get back into his screenfighting element, although I, assuredly among many, welcome any surprises headed our way if any. In the meantime, Wolf Warrior has been granted a new release date set for April 2, as well as a new trailer you can now check out below. His latest prequel role in Terence Cheung's S.P.L. 2: A Time For Consequences has already been granted a date in Malaysia tentative for July with further details pending.

Language Runs Afowl With Fisticuffs In New BTS Footage For GREEN STREET HOOLIGANS: UNDERGROUND

Director James Nunn's latest ode to hooligan vengeance in Green Street Hooligans: Underground is finally hitting North American shores on DVD following a limited theatrical release earlier this year. Action star and actor Scott Adkins portrays a former hooligan himself, now forced back in the fray to investigate his brother's death and unleash his own brand of old school bare-knuckle justice with co-stars Jack Doolan, Kacey Barnfield, Spencer Wilding and co-star/action director Joey Ansah rounding out the cast.

February 24 is the film's release and Movieweb recently hosted a small featurette included on this week's new DVD which you can now view below. In addition, and thanks to Ansah, you can now also catch an awesome pre-vizualized behind-the-scenes look at Adkins and the rest of the cast as they get into hooligan character for the unmitigated chaos that ensues throughout the film.
