Tim Miller's DEADPOOL Gets A Synopsis

It's been an electrifying time for the production of director Tim Miller's long-awaited feature Marvel adaptation, Deadpool from 20th Century Fox. Actor Ryan Renyolds finally debut the first official look of his titular character in the new film via Twitter this week in ceremonious fashion as things kick off for its release next year on February 12 with a script by Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick which aims to revitalize the character in fresh form long after Renyolds debuted the unmasked role himself with action star Scott Adkins in Gavin Hood's 2009 helmer, X-Men Orgins: Wolverine.

There's plenty more being planned for further advancement of the character with other projects in development, so fans will hopefully approve of what comes next, and it's already looking up considering the positive reception from fans on previously-leaked CG test footage as well as the photos we've so far seen. The cast itself is already drawing some noteworthy attention with T.J. Miller in the supporting role of Weasel, mixed martial artist and actress Gina Carano as Angel Dust, and lead actress Morena Baccarin as Vanessa who is expected by many to also portray her alterego, Copycat, in addition to The Transporter Refueled star, actor Ed Skrein in an unknown role with mentions of possibly playing fellow mercenary Garrison Kane. Of course, all details are pending regarding just exactly how these actors will fit into the script at hand, but all seems well with nearly zero complaints from fans given what little there is to know so far. That said, the official synopsis from the studio is adding even more approval for fans eager for catch this new gem on the big screen.

Based upon Marvel Comics’ most unconventional anti-hero, DEADPOOL tells the origin story of former Special Forces operative turned mercenary Wade Wilson, who after being subjected to a rogue experiment that leaves him with accelerated healing powers, adopts the alter ego Deadpool. Armed with his new abilities and a dark, twisted sense of humor, Deadpool hunts down the man who nearly destroyed his life.
Sounds pretty tight. Check back for more info on Deadpool, and remember to follow Renyolds on Twitter for more magical moments by the campfire...or not.

Kellan Lutz And More To Star In EXTRACTION With Bruce Willis

Kellan Lutz in THE EXPENDABLES 3 From Lionsgate
Director Steven C. Miller's latest action thriller, Extraction, has only just begun filming, and casting news is finally making the rounds. The film began principal photography just yesterday in Mobile, Alabama with producers Randall Emmett and George Furla and Adam Goldworm on hand, and now the film has officially added one other key cast member for the film's plot.

Following the film's announcement last month with action stars Bruce Willis and MMA fighter-turned-actress Gina Carano attached, Deadline is confirming the addition of actor Kellan Lutz to the mix. Lutz will play Harry Turner, a rookie C.I.A. agent who sets out in search of his kidnapped father, played by Willis, against the wishes of his superiors in the wake of the construction of a super-weapon called the Condor; The report also expands on last week's news of Carano's addition by THR, detailing her role as Victoria, a relentless field operative assigned to hunt Harry down.

Deadline also reports the addition of three more cast members, Lone Survivor co-stars Dan Bilzerian, Lydia Hull and Tyler Olson, although no particulars on their respective roles are available at this time.

Lutz has been up-and-coming for several years now following his recurring role in The Twilight Saga with a number of roles in titles such as Arena, Java Heat, The Legend Of Hercules and last year's ensemble actioner, The Expendables 3. A film with the likes of Willis and Carano will definitely serve as an ample contribution to his efforts to bolster his career in action stardom, and hopefully he keeps it going; One other update that caught my attention a few years back was for a film called Tattoo for which Lutz was attached. Its got an intriguing plot and I certainly hope he sees it through.

Carano is currently on deck for several other titles up for release soon enough, including Bus 657 with Robert DeNiro and Dave Bautista, Kickboxer: Vengeance with Bautista and debut lead Alain Moussi, and her forthcoming role in Deadpool for 20th Century Fox alongside lead actor Ryan Renyolds. Stay tuned for more info.

Gina Carano Tapped For EXTRACTION And Tim Miller's DEADPOOL

Newfound actress Gina Carano's post-professional MMA career is looking just a bit better and better following films like Furious 6, Haywire and In The Blood. Her latest stint in upcoming heist thriller Bus 657, as well as her forthcoming role in debut actor Alain Moussi's Kickboxer: Vengeance serve as a good milestones to go by, and hopefully we'll learn more about the latter's progress this year now that the local Louisiana crew is being paid in some capacity.

THR reports that the actress is now set to star in two more films: The first is the most recently announced Bruce Willis starrer, Extraction which begins filming in Alabama this month as sales commence in Berlin. Submerged helmer Steven C. Miller is directing from a script by Umair Aleem which focuses on a young CIA operative's mission to rescue his father, a former CIA agent himself, from captivity by terrorists in the wake of constructing a super-weapon called the Condor. Lionsgate is releasing the film through its Grindstone branch upon completion. There are no details yet pertaining to Carano's role just yet.

As for the second of the two, Carano has reportedly been added to the April production of VFX wizard Tim Miller's forthcoming (hopefully R-rated) Marvel adaptation of Deadpool set to release in one year from a script by Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick. Ryan Renyolds will be following up the character after 2009's X-Men Origins: Wolverine, in a newly reformed iteration of the character, a cancer patient who gains near-invincible powers following a government procedure. Also starring are actors T.J. Miller and Ed Skrein in undisclosed roles.

The plot of the film itself is under wraps however, but THR reports that the actress will play the role of Angel Dust, a member of the Chicago Morlocks who loses her own powers of super strength and speed in the events leading up to M-Day, when Scarlet Witch causes the near-entire depowering of the mutant  population. This isn't to suggest Scarlett Witch will appear in the film following her appearance this year in Marvel's The Avengers: Age Of Ultron (aside from the character's removal from last year's X-Men: Days Of Future Past as well) as it's just a factoid to hold onto, although THR is also reporting the possibility that fellow X-Men member, superhero Colossus could also be appearing in the film; As for whether or not that means we'll be seeing Daniel Cudmore again after seeing him last year in Days Of Future Past if that is to be the case, it is still uncertain, although it does lend some credence to what Deadpool creator Rob Liefeld said to his audience at Comikaze 2014 last November pertaining to Deadpool's possible merger into 20th Century Fox's X-Verse.

Whatever all this means, at least one thing is certain however: All roads lead back to Carano's growing career in film for which she can now add "starring in a Marvel movie to her accomplishments". It also could be the first of two projects following her announced efforts in 2013 with Liefeld to being Avengylene to the big screen.
