This New Clip From THE TRANSPORTER REFUELED Gives Me Hope!

I have to say, I wasn't really impressed with how the fight choreography is being sold in the current trailers for director Camille Delamarre's second outing, The Transporter Refueled. The film is coming out on September 4 and with just a few weeks left, the film is a third rail for many who love the previous three and are now brought to the fray with a reboot starring Ed Skrein who's got some pretty big shoes to fill.

Suffice it to say, this film is not an easy sell and the one who want to see it will do so. Having said all this, with the fight action being key to my own hopeful enjoyment of the film in the hopes of its subsequent trilogy to come, a new clip is online featuring Skrein in action, and for what it's worth, it looks pretty good. Fight choreographer Alain Figlarz definitely looks like he's stayed true to the essence of action design in the previous films, like using arrest techniques and being fast and resourceful in tight spaces. Corey Yuen and Cyril Raffaelli accomplished this in the first three films with their respective contributions, and from the looks of it, The Transporter Refueled may definitely look like it has something amazing to offer for fans not to take for granted and overlook.

There's time though, so there's no rush. But if clips are what you need to mull over your curiosity until then, then here's one for the road. Check it out below!

Watch A New Trailer For THE TRANSPORTER REFUELED

It's obvious that a lot of fans of action star Jason Statham aren't too keen on anyone else filling in his shoes for another take on the Transporter franchise. For better or worse though, that is what's happening with Deadpool co-star Ed Skrein staking his claim in the title role.

The new film, The Transporter Refueled, is opening in a little over three weeks and with plans for a trilogy in the works, there is a lot of ground to cover. For me, my test was director Camille Delamarre's debut remaking Pierre Morel's Banlieue 13 as Brick Mansions which felt more lackluster and dry in the action than anything. Incidentally, especially with the tone preset in the earlier movies, how the action looks here will be key to whether or not this one will live to tell the tale in the next few years, and while Skrein looks invariably dedicated here, it still bears wondering Luc Besson's protegè is.

SYNOPSIS:

Frank Martin, played by newcomer Ed Skrein, a former special-ops mercenary, is now living a less perilous life – or so he thinks – transporting classified packages for questionable people. When Frank's father (Ray Stevenson) pays him a visit in the south of France, their father-son bonding weekend soon takes a turn for the worse when Frank is engaged by a cunning femme-fatale, Anna (Loan Chabonal), and her three seductive sidekicks to orchestrate the bank heist of the century. Frank must use his covert expertise and knowledge of fast cars, fast driving and fast women to outrun a sinister Russian kingpin, and worse than that, he is thrust into a dangerous game of chess with a team of gorgeous women looking for revenge.

THE TRANSPORTER REFUELED Gets The IMAX Treatment

Personally I'm not yet too sure about the upcoming release of The Transporter Refueled, much less the title. Ed Skrein comes off as a strong actor though, and I'm sure the story well find it's own way to be entertaining in a way, but my main concern will always be the action and I still have my grievances after Brick Mansions. So, here's to crossing our fingers, and if an IMAX presentation will help things a bit, then I boldly welcome a sequel.

Starring newcomer Ed Skrein, The Transporter Refueled, which will be distributed domestically by Relativity EuropaCorp Distribution (RED) — the joint marketing and distribution venture between Relativity Studios and EuropaCorp — is directed by Camille Delamarre (Brick Mansions), from a script by Bill Collage and Adam Cooper. The film is based on characters developed by Robert Mark Kamen and EuropaCorp founder Luc Besson, who produced the film with Mark Gao.

THE TRANSPORTER REFUELED Goes Full Throttle In The New International Trailer!

I'll admit I wasn't too impressed by the initial teaser for director Camille Delamarre's upcoming reboot, The Transporter Refueled. Yes, I have a special place in my heart for SOME remakes and reboots as not all of them suck, so I'm fully aware of the need for objectivity.

Alas, the new international trailer has arrived ahead of the film's September release just as the poster came several days ago. The first three films featuring Jason Statham showcased stylish action as its main centerpiece apart from the intricate car chases, so I'm really looking foward to what the fight sequences will look like.

If actor Ed Skrein can deliver the same gravitas, then I'll be behind this one for sure...until then, objectivity.

THE TRANSPORTER REFUELED Gets A New Release Date

To be honest, I wasn't too impressed with what was presented in the most recent trailer for director Camille Delamarre's The Transporter Refueled. For starters, the title sounds silly to me and I would have rather much preferred it keep its original 'Legacy' title or something more appealing. But apart from that, the trailer itself looks like a series of lessons unlearned from our dear director's work on last year's release of Brick Mansions. I couldn't see the techniques and could only feel the choppy, rickety, Taken-style approach to the action as applied in part by Taken 2 co-star, fight choreographer Alain Figlarz, compared to the Hong Kong aesthetic established by Corey Yuen for the Jason Statham trilogy of yesteryear.

Granted, I haven't seen the film in its entirety, so further judgement will await until then, or at least until I've seen enough clips and trailers to have a broader and more informed opinion. In the meantime, Deadline is reporting the film dated release now pushed back from its June 19 debut to September 4 in order to have a larger window to promote the film and give it the same Fall/Winter release as its predecessors have. I can't say much about what that will or won't accomplish, although it could mean some reshoots are underway as well...who knows at this point? All I know is that fans of the original trilogy who've grown accustomed to Luc Besson's earlier devotion to the franchise will be much more critical than they have been, although hopefully this turns out to be decent reboot. Otherwise, don't say you weren't warned, Camille. You were.

Let's face it: There'll be no shortage of criticism from here on out for director Camille Delamarre's latest remake effort, The Transporter Refueled, following last year's Brick Mansions, unless this one manages to impress the fanbase. Actor Jason Statham made the previous trilogy what it is a deacade prior to its television pivot a few years ago with actor Chris Vance, which also garnered some positive reactions enough for two seasons.

Nowadays, with remakes still a thing among studios, it's up to actor Ed Skrein (Game Of Thrones) to take the wheel of this epic franchise on wheels and while he himself presents his own sense of gravitas here in the role of a younger Frank Martin in the new teaser, Skrein's got some big shoes to fill. For better worse, that day comes on June 19.
