Before the previous couple of years, it might have been easy to believe that actor Timothy Olyphant's title role in director Xavier Gens's 2007 cinematic incarnation of the popular Square Enix game, Hitman, would have been enough for a continuation; I certainly know I like it, and was always curious to see what would come of it.
Alas, 20th Century Fox has since taken initiative to reinvigorate the franchise with a new film and a new actor, now starring Rupert Friend (in place of late actor Paul Walker who was announced for the role in early 2013) in Aleksander Bach's new theatrical film adaptation, Hitman: Agent 47. With a date now set for August 28, 2015, the latest trailer serves quite the explosive feat that could top its predecessor. Of course, the question is, will it?
SYNOPSIS:
HITMAN: AGENT 47 centers on an elite assassin who was genetically engineered from conception to be the perfect killing machine, and is known only by the last two digits on the barcode tattooed on the back of his neck. He is the culmination of decades of research—and forty-six earlier Agent clones—endowing him with unprecedented strength, speed, stamina and intelligence. His latest target is a mega-corporation that plans to unlock the secret of Agent 47’s past to create an army of killers whose powers surpass even his own. Teaming up with a young woman who may hold the secret to overcoming their powerful and clandestine enemies, 47 confronts stunning revelations about his own origins and squares off in an epic battle with his deadliest foe.Rounding out the cast are Zachary Quinto, Hannah Ware, Thomas Kretschmann, Ciaran Hinds and Dan Bakkedahl with a script by Skip Woods, Kyle Ward and Michael Finch.
