Say what you will of reboots and remakes. They're here to stay and some will fare more in favor than others, and as of Tuesday, we'll see how it all plays out for Warner Bros.'s forthcoming feature re-installation, The Fugitive.
Shut In scribe, Christina Hodson has been tapped to provide the script based on the 1963 ABC TV series which saw actor David Janssen in the role of Richard Kimball, a physcian framed for the murder of his wife and forced on the run from the law in order to find her real killer. The series followed suit with Warner Bros. commercially successful 1993 theatrical adaptation of the series starring Harrison Ford, produced by Anne and Arnold Koepelson, and earning co-star Tommy Lee Jones, who played the relentless U.S. Marshall assigned to catch him, an Oscar for Best Supporting Actor on top of the film's seven other nominations; Jones later reprised his role opposite Wesley Snipes and Robert Downey Jr. in the 1998 sequel, U.S. Marshals.
The Koepelsons will be returning to produce the film with backing by Greg Silverman, and the prospects of hopefully rolling cameras by 2016. There's no word yet if Ford or Jones would be appearing in the new film in any capacity.
More ahead!
