Gallowwalkers helmer Andrew Goth is about a year away from delivering his latest entry into fantasy storytelling with his new venture, DxM. The film is making the rounds at Cannes so it may be a matter of time before some updates are revealed, but we have a gorgeous trailer making the rounds this month which immerses you deep into its mindbending sci-fi millieu along with its freerunning foreground.
SYNOPSIS:
A group of young students attend a quantum science foundation known as DxM. They each study different disciplines, from quantum biology to bio-engineering but together, they are working on a group project — to develop a process that can bypass the human nervous system and so create a wireless neural network. Their aim is to restore mobility to Voltaire, a world-class free runner who broke his neck in an accident. Whilst pursuing this goal, our team discover something more. This wireless neural network, if connected via a quantum computer, can transfer motor skills from not just one brain to one body, but between different brains to different bodies. In short, they have created the first shareware for human motor skills.
They freely spread this technology, believing it to be a first step towards a new equality. But as the mysterious past of one of their group is revealed, dark forces emerge that threaten to subvert this technology into a means of mass-control.
It's been close to a year since this film made casting headlines, and with market events taking place ahead of its 2016 release, the first trailer now online is a step in a great direction. Actor Sam Neill is joined by Tom Payne, Melia Kreiling and many more with world-chapion freerunner Ryan Doyle front and center.
