I'm sure that actor Ryan Gosling talked retirement at one point, but whatever. He's up for a role in Guillermo Del Toro's upcoming fantasy flick, The Haunted Mansion, and he's now up for a role in director Denis Villeneuve's forthcoming production of the long-awaited sci-fi sequel, Blade Runner 2 from Alcon Entertainment.
The new script is exepected to take place several decades after the end of the first film. Actor Harrison Ford will be returning to the role of future detective, Rick Deckard, who, in the first film, takes on killer humanoid android "replicants" whilst coping with his own feelings for one which believes itself to be human. Details on Gosling's role are not yet made clear, while Ridley Scott, who directed the first film which earned its accolades through cult fandom and Congressional recognition among its other laurels, is executive producing with a script by returning scribes Hampton Fancher, David Peoples and Michael Green.
Villenueve's recently-completed crime pic, Sicaro, is making waves this week as part of the newly-unveiled Cannes line-up before its forthcoming release. Meanwhile, cameras are expected to begin rolling next summer on Blade Runner 2 while we await further info on who else will star.
