TRON 3 To Begin Filming This October?

It's not easy getting sequels made for films, particularly for those that bomb. This is no less true for director Joseph Kosinski's 2010 sci-fi epic, Tron: Legacy from Buena Vista which scored only something to the tune of $172 million in equal to its $170 budget, but gained enough overseas to be considered a success.

So what's the fuss about? Welp, it appears Tron: Legacy is getting a sequel, according to sources at VanCity Buzz cited over at Badass Digest. October 5, 2015 is the date reported for Walt Disney Pictures to begin filming Tron 3 in Vancouver, British Colombia while neither a date nor an expansive cast and crew list have been announced with exception to the mention of actor Garrett Hedlund who starred in the 2010 film.

For those not in the know, the first film, Tron, released in 1982 from writer and director Steve Lisberger with actor Jeff Bridges starring as Kevin Flynn, a videogame designer forced to fight his way out of ENCOM's computer systems when he gets spirited away into a dark, neon-lit, geometric digital computer world oppressed by Master Control. Kosinski followed suit in 2010 with the release of Tron: Legacy with Lisberger back to produce for actor Hedlund who plays son, Sam, who finds himself spirited away into an upgraded realm of the digital realm while looking for his father, Kevin.

There's plenty more to both premises and if you haven't seen either film, they're both a worthy treat for their stunning visuals and spectacular action. As for the third, we'll see if this remains consistent as opportunities to see a story this epic follow through are rare, and I'm sure there are fans who are, at best, eager to see how Sam and Quorra are doing.

Stay tuned for more info!
