Directors Gareth Edwards, Josh Trank and Rian Johnson are all poised to direct their own contributions to the Star Wars universe relative to the forthcoming release of J.J. Abrams's Star Wars: The Force Awakens this December. That said, Disney CEO Bob Iger was on hand at a meeting of shareholders on Thursday morning where he unveiled the respective titles and dates among the few details to be made public.
Edwards will begin filming Rouge One, the first in a series of spin-offs that will take place beyond the Star Wars canon with a script by Cinderella scribe Chris Weitz and will star Academy Award-nomimated actress Felicity Jones, The Theory of Everything, based on an idea by executive producer John Knoll. Also executive producing are Simon Emanuel, and Jason McGatlin with Kathleen Kennedy and Tony To producing and John Swartz co-producing for the film's summer shoot in London ahead of its December 16, 2016 release.Johnson will follow-up The Force Awakens with the tentatively-titled Star Wars: Episode VIII for its May 26, 2017. Kennedy and Looper producer Ram Bergman, along with Don Jon, Brick, and The Brothers Bloom, are also produce. No details have yet been made about Trank's film, so stick around
