It's been a while since we heard anything about Safe House scribe David Guggenheim's script for 20th Century Fox's planned production of Narco Sub, and not too long since action star Liam Neeson kicked off the year with two action thrillers of his own, Taken 3 and last month's Run All Night. On that note, the latest report from The Wrap has confirmed the actor's role in the new film in addition to TV veteran Brian Kirk's attachment to direct.
Simon Kinberg and Ridley Scott will produce with executive producers Aditya Sood and Elishia Holmes of Genre Films and Scott Free Productions for Guggenheim's script which will see Neeson under durress as a disgraced American naval officer forced to navigate a drug-loaded into the U.S. undetected. There's no word yet on who will join the cast but the film will undoubtedly be one of several more action roles Neeson plans on portraying before he finally retires from kicking any more ass on the big screen if his recent statements are anything to go by.
Kinberg latest producer credits, Josh Trank's Fant4stic and Star Wars: The Force Awakens are coming in August and December, respectively, while we await further info on his latest assignment to help produce Ruairí Robinson's The Levithian for the big screen with Chappie helmer Neill Blomkamp. Scott's latest directorial gig with Matt Damon's lead in the sci-fi actioner, The Martian, arrives this November while Scott plans further producer and executive producer efforts in Prometheus 2 and director Denis Villeneuve's Blade Runner sequel starring Harrison Ford.
