Chan: KARATE KID 2 Script Is Still Being Written

Some exclusive coverage over at The Hollywood Reporter has some details largely pertaining to the recovering relationship action star Jackie Chan is working on with his son, Jaycee, following the younger Chan's six-month stint in jail over drugs last year. In the meantime, the article gave brief mention to the currently-developing sequel to the recent reboot of The Karate Kid starring Chan with Jaden Smith in the title role.

The sequel, otherwise promising for fans faithful toward Harald Zwart's 2010 adaptation of the original Ralph Macchio/Pat Morita trilogy, has been in the works for some time now. The repurposed approach to the original storyline sees Smith spirited away with his mother to China and forced to adjust to a new life with new people, only to get swept into a vortex of juvenile drama when the local bullies from a nearby martial arts school find, in him, a target for their adolescent ire; In comes Chan who ultimately saves his life and reluctantly agrees to teach his new underdog pupil Kung Fu when the bullies and their malicious teacher refuse peaceful resolve, in a transformative fish-out-of-water journey leading to a climatic tournament showdown.

Breck Eisner was on par to direct the sequel last year until scheduling became an issue, and so the film still tentatively remains without a director, while Will Smith serves as executive producer for his Overbrook Entertainment banner. Bearing that in mind, seldom headlines have circulated about the film, although it was finally revealed at THR, in a discussion between Chan and The Associated Press, the script is still being written as the elder Smith isn't yet comfortable with it, to which Chan is quoted jokingly saying in reply "...hurry up or otherwise Jaden will be taller than me,".

It's a small update but an update nonetheless that guarantees the film is still happening, and not for nothing either as Jaden has proven to be quite the actor and very much fitting for a role that sees him rebooting a beloved franchise with such physicality and scope. This, plus the starpower at hand with Chan and the likes of Chinese film star Yu Rongguang who appeared in the first film, should open an excellent door for an international variety of talent, young or old, to help welcome the next spiritual chapter of the newly revamped Karate Kid.

THE FOREIGNER Enlists Martin Campbell To Direct Jackie Chan's Next Action Thriller

It was late last year that Casino Royale helmer Martin Campbell was a frontrunner to direct Relativity Media's forthcoming book adaptation, Hunter Killer. That was long before this week's news of the studio's current financial troubles started making headlines, which now appears to be a reverting point for Campbell who is now in the running to direct one of several of action star Jackie Chan's upcoming films, STX Entertainment's The Foreigner with Wayne Godfrey producing.

The film, which Deadline states will be retitled between now and throughout the course of production, was announced back in June off the heels of another busy season of Chan-related announcements with the film set to go into production this October. Chan will lead the film, based on an adaptation of the 1992 Hodder and Stoughton publication by author Stephen Leather with a script by David Marconi and Peter Buchman, as a former member of the Viet Cong-turned-South London restaurant owner who sets out to avenge the death of his family at the hands of the IRA when the justice system fails.

If you're a regular Chan fanatic, you already know to keep an eye out for more titles. At any rate though, tentatively-titled The Foreigner is already looking like an exciting venture on the action genre, and one that will no less appeal to that of the Taken crowd.

Watch The Official U.S. Trailer For Jackie Chan Epic, DRAGON BLADE

Finally on par for a limited theatrical and digital release this Fall is writer and director Daniel Lee's latest period epic, Dragon Blade. The film is certainly a record breaker in several ways from its market sales last year to its production value and subsequent box office success in the first three days of its opening run, and it's good to see a film like this now making some headway toward the big screen for audiences beyond. Nary a Jackie Chan epic like this gets the mainstream big screen treatment in the U.S. and that will certainly change in time, but aside from earlier reviews, its latest trailer surely demands it.

SYNOPSIS:

A massive success this year in its native China, “Dragon Blade” brings action spectacle on a grand scale to US audiences. 

Featuring an international cast led by Jackie Chan, John Cusack and Academy Award® winner Adrien Brody, the film features the fight for the Silk Road when East and West collide. When corrupt Roman leader Tiberius (Adrien Brody) arrives with a giant army to claim the Silk Road, Huo An (Jackie Chan) and his group of trained warriors teams up with an elite legion of defected Roman soldiers led by General Lucius (John Cusack) to maintain the delicate balance of power in the region. To protect his country and his new friends, Huo An gathers the warriors of thirty-six ethnic nations together to fight Tiberius in an incredible epic battle.   

The film is written and directed by Daniel Lee (“Black Mask”) and produced by Jackie Chan and Susanna Tsang.

DRAGON BLADE Gets A U.S. Release Date And Poster!

It was back in April that Lionsgate alerted moviegoers in a press release of its newly-formed  distribution arm, Lionsgate Premiere with action star Jackie Chan's Spring success story, Dragon Blade to be the first of the slate. Since then, it appears Chan has been intent on making headlines as much as possible whilst continuing to do away with any talk of retirement whatsoever with Rush Hour 4 and Shanghai Dawn among several to which he has since confirmed between now and the past year, on top of managing a new media academy in Wuhan as the Dean.

This too, ON TOP of the latest teaser fof his new globetrotting action adventure, Skiptrace, make it all appear less of a peak for Chan's career and more like he's just getting started as he isn't stopping any time soon. While we're at it though, it looks like we won't have to wait to long in North America for Dragon Blade to arrive with word from Chan's official Facebook fan page of the film's limited theatrical and digital release on September 4, 2015, and he also shared the new poster which isn't too dissimilar from its domestic one sheets, but otherwise is solid artwork; To Lionsgate's credit though - aside from their previous renaming of certian Asian titles (see Ninja Masters), I'm glad they didn't rename the film "Desert Ninjas" or something like that. Were it not for Chan's clout however, I'm pretty sure that would be the case. And I would require a check.

SYNOPSIS:

Set in China during the Han dynasty (206-220 AD), Dragon Blade follows Huo An (Chan), an official framed and enslaved for a crime he didn’t commit. Soon thereafter, however, he meets Roman soldier in Cusack’s Lucius and the pair begin to form an unlikely alliance.

Daniel Lee directs with Chan joined by John Cusack, Adrien Brody, Sharni Vinson, Peng Lin and Si Won Choi. If you're not familiar with the footage yet, a teaser trailer ahead of its release in China earlier this year can be seen below.

Chan And Knoxville Jump Leaps And Bounds In The New SKIPTRACE Teaser!

Anyone here wondering if action star Jackie Chan can keep doing what he does on screen needn't look further than his participation this month at the Shanghai International Film Festival in lieu of Jackie Chan Action Movie Week...or, for all intents and purposes, the latest official teaser for Renny Harlin's globetrotting action romp, Skiptrace. This one appears to welcome much more international appeal with English dialogue by Chan and co-star Johnny Knoxville with actress Fan BingBing playing the niece who needs rescuing, and MMA beauty Eve Torres squeezing into the mix!

SYNOPSIS:

One of the last good cops around, Hong Kong detective Bennie Black (Chan) has been tracking dangerous crime boss Victor Wong for over a decade. When Bennie's beautiful young niece Samantha (Fan Bingbing) gets into trouble with Wong's crime syndicate, he must track down the one man who can help her: fast-talking, American gambler Connor Watts (Knoxville). Watts, who is also on the run from the same mob and a dangerous Russian assassin. Eventually catching up with Connor in Siberia, Bennie races against the clock to bring him back to Hong Kong. The unlikely pair embark on a hilarious, perilous adventure from the windswept dunes of the Gobi Desert, to the rocky spires of the Huangshan Mountains.  

Cultures collide in this buddy comedy which takes us to places on earth we have never seen before.

SKIPTRACE Fires A Dragon Through The Desert In The Latest Poster

Make room on your plate for the next few years because action star Jackie Chan hasn't gone away just yet. Kung Fu Yoga, Civilian, Rush Hour 4, Shanghai Dawn and STX Entertainment's The Foreigner are all worth bearing in mind as the devout action cinema mainstay and newly established film school dean keeps his focus just about everywhere in relation to anything involving film, specifically nowadays with director Renny Harlin's globetrotting sleuth buddy comedy, Skiptrace, in post-production.

The film is certainly another sizeable up in antee for a China-based Chan film production following Daniel Lee's Dragon Blade, and though Chan may be getting older and unable to do a lot of what he used to, he always manages to find a way to deliver grand-scale impact which is always refreshing. Of course, the accidental death of veteran cinematographer Chan Kwok-hung off the coast of Lantau Island back in December can't go without mentioning, particularly for someone who has contributed well over twenty years to Hong Kong movie history behind the camera. Alas, it will surely be a parting treat and poignant farewell for those who are familiar with the legendary lensman's career in lieu of what some can expect will be a continuance of his fine work on the action star's latest craft.

Jackie Chan Enlists To Take On Terrorists In THE FOREIGNER

Nope, no vacations for action star Jackie Chan. He's still a working actor and with all that's already on his plate, he's added some extra meat now with final negotiations for a new action thriller set to begin rolling cameras this October titled The Foreigner. The film is based on The Chinaman, a 1992 Hodder & Stoughton publication from author Stephen Leather, and services another tasty deal for STX Entertainment within a slate of films bolstering Chinese investment, and as for the film itself, the book description alone should give Chan fans something to look forward to.

The Chinaman understood death. 

Jungle-skilled, silent and lethal, Nguyen Ngoc Minh had killed for the Viet Cong and then for the Americans. Imprisoned and tortured after the Communist victory, he escaped with his wife and baby daughter to Hong Kong - but only after being forced to watch Thai pirates rape and kill his two eldest daughters. 

Now the proud owner of the Double Happiness Chinese takeaway in South London, he watches his daughter grow into a beautiful young woman, secure in the knowledge that the horrors of his homeland are finally behind him. 

Until the day an IRA bomb in a Knightsbridge store snatches his family from him in a horrific maelstrom of fire and glass. 

Then, simply but persistently, he began to ask the authorities who were the men responsible, what was being done. And was turned away, fobbed off, treated as a nuisance. 

Which was when the Chinaman, denied justice, decided on revenge. And went back to war.

Award-winning director Nick Cassavetes has been tapped to helm the picture, and the news comes just as Chan's most recent theatrical offering with Police Story: Lockdown has finally made its way to the U.S. this weekend. I can't exactly say what this does for Chan's previous talk of retirement and not being able to do a lot of what he used to, but clearly whatever is left of his capabilities, there are plenty. He's a Guiness World Record holder too, so...yeah. Don't count him out any time soon.

Screener Review: POLICE STORY: LOCKDOWN (2013/2015)

SYNOPSIS:

Police Captain Zhong Wen (Jackie Chan) knows all about sacrifice. He’s always been too busy chasing bad guys to be a father to his daughter Miao (Jing Tian). 

Tonight, he’s seeing her for the first time in years – and meeting her fiance, club owner Wu Jiang (Liu Ye).  But Wu knows Zhong. And his plans for the evening include taking Miao, Zhong, and the entire club hostage. 

Zhong knows about sacrifice. What will he give up to save his daughter?

REVIEW:

It's been a few years since director Ding Sheng and action star Jackie Chan landed in the cinemas with Police Story 2013. Plenty of people have seen it in its previous iteration and its definitely drawn my curiousity having not seen it until opening night, especially with so many mixed reactions by fans.

The film definitely sits apart from Chan's more popular Police Story franchise dating back to the 80's and mid-90's; Chan's New Police Story in 2005 tries to incorporate some of those darker, moodier elements while essentially keeping the film family friendly, but Sheng's contribution here truly pushes that film into less colorful, more edgier territory. The film is moody, darkly lit amid its neon backdrop and plays out like a mystery crime drama more than anything, while bringing some action sequences to help embody the story more as an action picture to the fanbase.

Much of the little action that takes place does hold its own with Chan still physically able to do what he does without going crazy. The fight sequences are hard-hitting and brutal, with our principal actor in a much more aged performance that what fans might be used to, and unfortunately a lot of those action sequences are sold short in many portions, while dazzled here and there with high-speed camera work for slow-mo close ups (my guess is it was for the 3D at the time).

Actor Liu Ye, who I absolutely enjoyed in Curse Of The Golden Flower in 2006, does a phenomenal job as the revenge-driven villain in this one, and although he doesn't quite fit as a formidable screenfighter in this particular go-around, but he holds his own from time to time. The same goes for Jing Tian who plays Chan's distant daughter and several of the other supporting actors. At the end though, the film is more of an embodient of Chan's evolving post-Hollywood career with much of his filmwork more heavily-infused with drama than anything.

Some of the suspense toward the third act gets a little mediocre as the movie finally pieces its intentions together and only a few of the supporting characters tend to be annoying from time to time which does take a little away from the tonal engagement of the film. All in all, though, Sheng does a tremendous job in constructing a much more different kind of Chan film with some exciting moments of compelling internal family drama, poignant performances and heightened intensity layered with explosive action in a few parts where it's needed.

More importantly though, it's Chan's film. He puts his best acting foot (and singing voice) forward in this one, and it's worthy enough to lend at least one theatrical viewing for the experience of watching Chan on screen. It's not for everyone and does bring an acquired taste.

WHO AM I? Gets A 2015 Remake With Jackie Chan Producing And A Trailer!

Remakes... They're everywhere, and even in China where newly established film school dean, action legend Jackie Chan partook in producing one nearly seventeen years since the 1998 globetrotting espionage Chan-classic, Who Am I?. Producer and first time helmer Song Xi-Yin directs this latest revival with actor Ocean Wang now taking the lead in helping propel the next generation of action filmmakers and performers, and a cast featuring actreses Anna Yao and Zhang Lan-Xin, with fellow Chan cohorts Ken Lo and Yu Rong Guang also starring.

If you've seen the 1998 original, you pretty much get the gist of it as this particular installation centers around similar plot points with lur lead actor having fallen into amnesia and forced to fight for his life while searching for answers. It's a classic Chan film and the choice to remake a classic can always be a damming one if it's not respected for its history, although the fact that Chan was involved in this is still reassuring in many ways. Chan is a man with clout which could benefit Wang in this, his second bow in a feature film. Here with the help of action director Han Guanhua, the new Who Am I? could forsee a new action star in the making.

However, the fact is that the action will be key to how well this will bode, with at least one particular scene in mind involving the protagonist and two methodical henchmen. It's pretty much what made that movie so unforgettable and it will be nice if the fight sequences here would do the same.

Jackie Chan's Movie And Media School Opens In Wuhan

Remember back in 2013 when action star Jackie Chan talked about launching his own school for aspiring film professionals? Well, that just happened.

While the 61-year old action cinema mainstay was busy stirring up enthusiam with a special award to fund young filmmakers with the aid of the Marche du Film at Cannes, plans were already unfolding for Chan's new school which had its celebratory opening six days ago as of this report. THR writes that The Jackie Chan Film and Television Academy of the Wuhan Institute of Design and Sciences officially opened to the public May 20, where Chan himself will serve as the Dean.

The school, where Chan said he hopes to utilize his own experiences in conjunction with that of others to provide an outlet, as well as an interactive venue for students between classrooms and actual sets, is stated to be a lifelong dream for the action star whose earlier efforts to open one in Beijing long before had led to nowhere for "many reasons." Chan's staff will partially include a growing number of guest professors at the school, with actor Zhang Guoli, actress Li Bingbing, director Feng Xiaogang and his wife, actress Xu Fan among those named.

"Today, I am able to establish it through the assistance of the people who do care," said Chan.

So there you have it. Obviously this is something that his own stunt team has benefited from in the years since Hong Kong cinema's golden era well into the 90s as his circle grew more and more diverse. However, with his newest endeavors finally taking off after a long and continuing legendary film career, Chan can finally open doors for the next generation to absorb the crux of his successes and become future content creators for the next millennia.

Chan And Wilson Set To Complete The Trilogy With SHANGHAI DAWN

Well, another day has passed and another Jackie Chan film is currently in the works, and in this instance you would be forgiven for thinking this was too good to be true. Only it isn't false, which for Chan-heads is probably not at all bad.

ComingSoon.net had forwarded news from The Tracking Board that the action legend is set to reteam with actor Owen Wilson under producer and MGM president Jonathan Glickaman for the long-awaited threequel, Shanghai Dawn. It's been twelve years since the first two left us off with Chan and Wilson in the respective roles of rogue imperial guardsman Chon Wang and former bandit Roy O'Bannon at the peak of Chan's post Hong Kong action career, and Chan's own career has been much more global and prominent in Asia since making Around The World In 80 Days and The Spy Next Door.

There aren't any solid specifics being mentioned about where the new installment may take place with regard to the plot, but seeing as how this is now official, it's only a matter of time.

Watch The New Trailer For Well Go USA's Release Of Jackie Chan's POLICE STORY: LOCKDOWN

Anyone who went and saw Well Go USA's theatrical release of Kung Fu Killer last month likely caught a glimpse at a trailer for their forthcoming delivery of Jackie Chan's most recent gritty installation of one of his most popular film franchises to date, Police Story: Lockdown. Directed by Ding Sheng who will be helming Chan's next big action comedy entreé, Roaring Tigers, the film initially gained prominence in China under its Police Story 2013 iteration having released two years ago, but the film is finally making its way to the states with a trailer that comes just as its lead actor continues to make headlines out of Cannes.

SYNOPSIS:

Cannes 2015: Jackie Chan And Ding Sheng Reunite For RAILROAD TIGERS

Continuing to destroy any dialogue of retirement is action cinema legend, Jackie Chan. His plate is already full but with Chan, you can pretty much expect him to have extra plates handy, especially with his activity over at Cannes.

Word from THR writes that Chan will star in a fresh new $50 million dollar action comedy, Railroad Tigers, with the intent to reverb the greatness of previous classics like Project A and Drunken Master 2 while aiming for no less than the usual "bigger and better" approach to production value, action and stunts. The film will reteam him for a third outing with director Deng Sheng since their previous paring on Little Big Soldier in 2010, and Police Story 2013 a few years ago.

Here, Chan will star as a railroad worker in China who bands together with a group of freedom fighters to use their knowledge of the railway system to cripple the Japanese armed forces. The film is being represented by Hong Kong-based Golden Network Asia as filming sets with a release for next October with Sparkle Roll Media Corp, Shanghai Film Group, Beijing Going Zoom Media and Shanghai New Culture Media Group backing the production.

Chan just recently earned box-office acclaim with the Chinese period epic, Dragon Blade, directed by Daniel Lee. The action legend is expected to commense filming KungFu Yoga in India this Autumn for director Stanley Tong while further news is pending on other titles, including Renny Harlin's Skiptrace for Exclusive Media, and Peter Segal's Civilian for IM Global.

Iron Dragon TV And Well Go USA Are Screening BLADE OF KINGS Next Week!

At some point between the years on both ends of the new millenium, the Hong Kong action genre remained in its prominence with films led by young pop stars. One such title included the modern zany vampire action flick, The Twins Effect, themed around the popularity of Hong Kong singing duo Charlene Choi and Gillian Chung as they were leaving their mark on the big screen as actresses in a few action comedies of their own.

Quirky dialogue and stylish action with some vampiric lore featuring a particularly young cast are the formula here, and it surprisingly led to a sequel a year later which had absolutely nothing to do with it. That one was simply titled The Twins Effect 2 for its release with several of our young actors returning, including our lead actresses, with action legend Corey Yuen and Patrick Leung sharing the directors' hat. These films weren't for everyone as they were mainly for the younger crowd familiar with the cast, and action star legends Donnie Yen and Jackie Chan - both who share a place working on the first and second film.

Alas, the latter finally ended up with a more appropriate title for its DVD release just a few years ago with its acquisition by Well Go USA as Blade Of Kings. Still, for the fans and anyone interested and living in Texas willing to make the trip to Austin, the film is getting a screening on Tuesday, April 21 at 9:00pm at Violet Crown Cinema. SYNOPSIS:

An ancient land ruled by a cruel empress (Qu Ying), is a place where men are subservient to women.  Despite her ruthlessness, the empress and her chief eunuch, Chiu Ngai (Daniel Wu), live in fear of a prophecy that says a boy shall rise to become emperor, and restore the reign of men.  To prevent this, the empress sends out her warriors to kill any child who fulfils the terms of the prediction… 

Charcoal Head (Jaycee Chan) and his brother Blockhead (Chen Po-lin) perform in a traveling show run by their foster father, Blackwood (Tony Leung Ka-fai). Their friend Tao (Edison Chen) gives them a stone with a treasure map engraved upon it. The pair set out on an epic journey to find fortune and glory. 

They are joined on their odyssey by two fierce warrior women, Blue Bird (Gillian Chung) and 13th Young Master (Charlene Choi), and, together have to survive a series of challenges.  The youngsters meet Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon (Donnie Yen), a master swordsman intent on overthrowing the empire.  To do so, Lone must first fight the Lord Of Armor (Jackie Chan) in order to gain access to the mysterious treasure. 

Finally, the boy who would be emperor must lead an army against the forces of the empress…

POLICE STORY: LOCKDOWN Locks A Release U.S. Date

It was well over a year ago that director Deng Sheng's Police Story 2013 arrived in theaters in Asia. The film reteams the director omce more with international action star Jackie Chan in a story that centers on a mainland cop who falls into a dangerous trap when a bar is taken hostage. All in all, it proved to be an ample continuation of Chan's cinematic reign among the niche with a much darker and grittier, more non-canonical approach compared to the usual tone of Hong Kong comedy he's become known for.

Thankfully, Well Go USA has locked a date for its own theatrical and digital release of the film now in the form of Police Story: Lockdown for June 5, 2015. Actor Liu Ye and actress Tian Jing also star, and while there's no graphic or trailer footage for its U.S. arrival just yet, there are always the previous trailers to help whet the appetite. Screw Retirement. Jackie Chan Re-Affirms Shanghai 3, Rush Hour 4, Armour Of God 4...And Who's Counting?

For 60-ish Guinness world record-holding martial arts star and legendary action cinema mainstay Jackie Chan, any talk of retirement has always been suspect considering the workload he continues to mount for himself. The 2012 release of Chinese Zodiac '12 - CZ12, followed by Police Story 2013 and the recent box office success of director Daniel Lee's record period epic, Dragon Blade, are all prime examples of Chan's fortitude in what seems to be a non-ending growth in career, which has always left a daunting affect on any discussion regarding whether or not he would turn the page on doing films for good considering his age.

Chan himself has spoken to the press in recent years about the subject with regard to the caliber and danger level of his signature action and stuntwork his career has become so known and celebrated for, and for his age it obviously makes sense that he would express an interest in taking some kind of a break. However, it appears  the enduring work ethic of folks like Clint Eastwood and Sylvester Stallone have had an affect on Chan as both continue to work, with Stallone working on Creed and Scarpia this year and Eastwood's recent directorial success on American Sniper. As such, Chan's statements quoted in a new article over at translatory Chinese news site, Jaynestars, are now hinting at otherwise continued plans for a follow-up to Armour Of God 3 (a.k.a. CZ12), a third 'Shanghai' movie proceeding Shanghai Noon (2000) and Shanghai Knights (2003), and a fourth Rush Hour movie.

Chan himself hasn't really done a Hollywood film since 2010 with The Spy Next Door and Kung Fu Panda 2, the latter sharing production weight with Shanghai-based Oriental Dreamworks. That's about five years, and so it is nice to see that the studios in Hollywood partly responsible in helping him cross over in the late 1990's still see him as a viable star for American audiences. Plus, a forth Rush Hour film (aside from the new CBS series starring Jon Foo coming soon), and a third stint with actor Owen Wilson for Shanghai 3 have been in development hell since the relative preceding titles hit the big screen.

Needless to say, there will be more Chan. Director Renny Harlin's latest with the actor in Skiptrace is still in post-production with the remaining possibility of Karate Kid 2 with Jaden Smith; Really, that latter title makes a total of four movies in development (five if you count his possible return to the vocal role of Monkey on Kung Fu Panda 3 in 2016), although time will tell as always. And at this rate, don't be surprised if Dragon Blade gets a sequel greenlit. Early? Yes. Unlikely? Well, we're talking Jackie freaking Chan here so...whatever.

Jon Foo Takes The Lead Of RUSH HOUR TV Pilot For CBS

Well, this just got a little more interesting. Sure, some folks have their opinions regarding whether or not the 1998 action comedy, Rush Hour should get a television reboot as planned since its announcement last September for Warner Bros. TV. Nonetheless, CBS has itself quite the series going for itself and it will be intriguing to see how well the cast of this series will bode with home audiences.

As such, you can officially add martial artist and actor Jon Foo to the list, as he's just been cast to play the role of stoic Hong Kong Inspector Lee who reluctantly befriends cocky LAPD detective James Carter during their misadventures while solving crimes; Characters Lee and Carter were previously portrayed respectively by action cinema legend Jackie Chan and actor and comedian Chris Tucker in the Brett Ratner-directed trilogy through 2007. Foo is best known for his role in a number of recent martial arts titles, including actor and director Stephen Fung's House Of Fury, as well as appearing opposite Tony Jaa in Tom Yum Goong, followed by Dwight H. Little's 2010 Namco/Bandai video game adaptation, Tekken, and in 2013 with actor Dominic Purcell in the fantasy epic, Vikingdom and Tony Giglio's Crackle Exclusive, Extraction.

Executive producers and showrunners Bill Lawrence and Blake McCormick will be joined by Ratner, as well as producer Arthur Sarkissian with National Treasure franchise helmer Jon Turtletaub tapped to direct the pilot of the hour-long series which was ordered back in January.

Jackie Chan's DRAGON BLADE Wields A Second Trailer!

To say that Jackie Chan's had a hell of a time between late last year and now would, for what it is worth, be an understatement. Fortunately though, with no need to mention much on his personal issues, his continued career as a landmark star will soon garner him the billing of an IMAX/3D premiere for his newest period action adventure thriller, Dragon Blade, sporting enormous production value with all the trappings of an instant epic that has John Cusack and Adrien Brody also starring.

SYNOPSIS:

Dragon Blade, from director Daniel Lee (White Vengeance, 14 Blades), follows a Roman general (Cusack) who, after crossing into China, befriends a former high-ranking Chinese official, played by Chan. Set in 48 B.C., Dragon Blade tells the thrilling story of heroism, friendship and betrayal, which has never before been depicted on film.

Perhaps 2015 will service a nice bit of respite from earlier troubles as time moves on. Chan is still a busy man for his age and it's great to see him put his energy and creativity to use, and the fans will obviously agree. Feburary 19 is the date for the film's overseas release, so watch the trailer below, cross your fingers and hope for something stateside

The First Trailer Has Finally Arrived For Jackie Chan's DRAGON BLADE!

It's been a parade of stills, featurettes and all sorts of other teaser pics since post-production began for action star Jackie Chan's latest epic period action adventure, Dragon Blade. But fret no more, because we finally have a trailer to share for this, his latest feat of manpower with John Cusack and Adrien Brody also starring, with a diverse cast and big scale set pieces to illustrate just what a record breaking budget of $65 million dollars can do for a Chinese feature, and as you will see, in Chan's hands, to say it does a lot would be a huge understatement!

The film will also likely be an introduction for many to Cusack as a screenfighter, particularly since he trains under Chan's Wheels On Meals and Dragons Forever co-star Benny "The Jet" Urquidez, in addition to being a 20 year practioner and a 6th degree black belt in Ukidokan kickboxing...which also minds me that I really need to see Grosse Pointe Blank in a time not too far later. Anyway, Dragon Blade is gearing up for an IMAX and 3D release in China and Hong Kong, on February 19, 2015 following a star-studded press tour throughout Asia with much of the cast.

More pics and featurettes continue to roll out in promotion of director Daniel Lee's new action thriller, Dragon Blade are making the rounds ahead of its forthcoming premiere in IMAX and 3D February. The film boasts a stellar cast featuring action superstar Jackie Chan as an enslaved Han Dynasty Chinese commander in 48 B.C. fighting to clear his name in the face of incoming Roman army and its corrupt leaders.

John Cusack and Adrien Brody also star in the film which has gained a lot of traction due to the epic, record breaking size and scale of the production as a whole, and the promotional materials really do speak for themselves.
