Keeping up with Star Wars fandom still? Good! Variety is making headway with word of negotiations for actor Forest Whitaker to star in the forthcoming December 16, 2016 release of Star Wars: Rogue One.
Godzilla helmer Gareth Edwards is directing the installation which will see its current stars, actress Felicity Jones, Ben Mendelssohn, Riz Ahmed and Diego Luna partake in a story chronologically set after Episode III nearing IV as our heroes plot an effort to steal the Death Star. The news comes with great timing as Whitaker's next film, Antoine Fuqua's Southpaw arrives in late July while moviegoers await the verdict on his involvement in Corin Hardy's remake of The Crow which starts filming this Fall.
In the meantime, fans of the Star Wars saga can catch J.J. Abrams's Star Wars: The Force Awakens this December as the first of the new movies commence development and production. Stay tuned for more info.
