I took a bit of a break over the weekend, but I managed to muster up some energy to put together this latest piece for you all to glance at in your spare time. Not gonna ramble much here, so on that note...
Here's a small batch of some cool stunt reels featuring stuntwomen Victoria Ortiz and Julia Maggio, and stuntmen Alex Duong, Barry Nerling, Bastian Kern, Mark Ruddick, Frederico Berte and Tripp Pickell (if the last name sounds familiar, this might be a reason why).
Up next is probably the most epic game of soccer you'll see ever. Neo, Superman, Wonder Woman, Iron Man, frickin Gandalf...yep, pretty explosive. Courtesy of the folks behind freerunner and YouTuber Ronnie Shalvis!
Stunt 360's own Jacob Sebastian Malm is still active behind the camera this year as we await further info on his projects, including one involving action choreographer Tim Man and stuntwoman Lauren Okadigbo as per this teaser from last year. In the meantime, he's currently presented a teaser ahead of the July 22 stage premiere of Giacomo Puccini's Turandot for this year's Bregenzer Festspiele in Austria. The show will be held everynight from July 22 to August 23 for an audiende of 7,000 attendees, and he's brought a trailer introducing the faces of the show. Now, it's time to get fighting, and a few honorable mentions I want to throw in are last week's Two Bellmen from SubOverHype, and Daren Nop's latest performance in Shadow Of 13: Part 2. Both are instant gems and if you haven't seen eithet of those, I would advise you do so in the not too distant future. On that note, let's get some fighting done with the ladies first in France with a video done a few months ago with stuntwomen Audrey Ottaviano and Cléo Schulmann, as well as CBR's Jami: The Fight Genie, a few videos featuring some cosplay action with martial arts performers and online tutors Shane Fazen and Aaron Gassor, the first episode of Cosplay Combat featuring Tess Kielhamer and Kevin Tsai, Cinematic Fight Studio's latest - DD Murdock, and a re-upload of a 2011 fight short titled Informant featuring human Kicktionary Eric Jacobus and German action actor and stuntman Andy Long Nguyen!
It was last summer that actor and martial artist Michel Quach teased netizens with a meaty trailer for his upcoming shortfilm, Templar, which tells of an elite futuristic enforcer working his way up the ladder through a series of "assigments". The trailer itself is full of spoils with thrilling moments of action while the shortfilm itself is taking its time to make its way online - as is the nature of indie film. Can't complain, really, as he's now taken to social media to accommodate fans with a montage from Templar which, in my opinion, doesn't leave much to the imagination unless there's more amazing footage that hasn't been seen yet. I can't wait to be surprised myself.
Stepping back on the other side of the camera for a brief moment, the EMC Monkeys are well on their way with their newest video, Evolution Of Fight which is building to be an electrifying array of hardcore action highlit by a handful of familar action stars as of late. You can learn a little more about it by watching their latest behind-the-scenes video in which you'll probably get the references seen here if you know movies.
Another honorable mention would be Cambodian Killers, one of several projects currently involving actor and martial artist D.Y. Sao and his banner, Usurp Productions in association with Blue Kanji Films. The first episode premiered last October with a second well on the way, centered on a reformed criminal forced to confront his old kickboxing team amid dealing with their notorious crime boss (synopsis courtesy of yours truly). The series is slow to take shape, again, as per the usual nature of indie, but if you love martial arts and drama, then you're sure to enjoy Cambodian Killers in the wake of its first episode. Watch it, and then view the teaser for episode two right here.
Another teaser is out and about as of this week with independent filmmaker, action actor Betim Alimi with his next short, Ninja Hunter - a pretty clear, cut and dry summation I might add. Because ninjas. Nuff said.
...And last but not least, hopefully you've already gained a foothold on last year's webseries premiere, The Way from martial artist, instructor and filmmaker Ronny Vega. If not, then now's as good a time as any, especially if you're a Bruce Lee fan or a follower of his teachings as the series is modeled as an introspective spiritual drama based on Lee's principles, centered on a story of disenfranchised fighters who get sucked into a criminal underworld's hellish fighting circuit with the only option of fighting their way out. Season two has since been released online over the weekend, now in the form of The Way: Fighters Twitch with actor, martial artist, instructor, writer and producer (and sometime guest contributor to Film Combat Syndicate), Khalil Barnett starring and Vega directing.
